Theophanes
Theophanes was a Byzantine chronicler born around 758 AD. He is best known for his work, the "Chronographia," which provides a detailed history of the Byzantine Empire from its origins until 813 AD. His writings are significant for their insights into the political and religious events of the time, as well as for preserving earlier historical sources.
In addition to his role as a historian, Theophanes was also a monk, which influenced his perspective on events. His accounts are valuable for understanding the cultural and social context of the Byzantine Empire, particularly during the reigns of emperors like Constantine VI and Leo V.
