The Ten Plagues
The Ten Plagues were a series of disasters that, according to the Bible, struck Egypt to persuade Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery. These plagues included turning the Nile River into blood, swarms of frogs, lice, flies, livestock disease, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn. Each plague increased in severity and demonstrated the power of the God of the Israelites.
The plagues culminated in the final event, which led to the Exodus, where the Israelites, led by Moses, left Egypt. This story is found in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament and is significant in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions.
