The Mutton Birds
The Mutton Birds, also known as shearwaters, are seabirds belonging to the family Procellariidae. They are known for their long wings and ability to glide over ocean waters. These birds are primarily found in the Southern Hemisphere, particularly around New Zealand and Australia. They are named for their taste, which resembles that of mutton.
Mutton Birds are migratory, traveling thousands of kilometers between their breeding and feeding grounds. They nest in burrows on coastal islands, where they lay a single egg each breeding season. Their diet mainly consists of fish and squid, which they catch while flying over the ocean.
