The Marvelettes
The Marvelettes were an American girl group formed in 1960 in Inkster, Michigan. They were one of the first successful acts on the Motown label, known for their catchy songs and harmonious vocals. Their debut single, "Please Mr. Postman," became a major hit in 1961, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The group originally consisted of members Gladys Horton, Wanda Young, Georgeanna Tillman, and Juanita Cowart. Over the years, they released several popular songs, including "Don't Mess with Bill" and "Beechwood 4-5789." The Marvelettes played a significant role in shaping the sound of 1960s pop and R&B music.
