Gladys Horton
Gladys Horton was an American singer best known as the lead vocalist of the popular Motown group, the Marvelettes. Born on May 30, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, she gained fame in the 1960s with hits like "Please Mr. Postman," which became the first song by a girl group to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Horton was a significant figure in the Motown sound, contributing to the label's success during its early years. After leaving the Marvelettes in the late 1960s, she continued to perform and record music, influencing future generations of artists until her passing on January 26, 2021.
