The Lord Chamberlain's Men
The Lord Chamberlain's Men was a prominent theatrical company in England during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Founded in 1594, the company was patronized by Henry Carey, the Lord Chamberlain, and became one of the leading groups performing in London. They were known for their high-quality productions and featured many of the era's best actors.
The company is most famous for its association with the playwright William Shakespeare, who was a member and wrote many of his plays specifically for them. The Lord Chamberlain's Men performed at various venues, including the Globe Theatre, which became their primary stage.
