The Endless Column
The Endless Column is a monumental sculpture created by Romanian artist Constantin Brâncuși. Completed in 1938, it stands in Târgu Jiu, Romania, and is made of 17 stacked, elongated forms that symbolize the sacrifice of Romanian soldiers during World War I. The column reaches a height of 29.33 meters and is constructed from a series of cast bronze and stone elements.
The design of The Endless Column reflects Brâncuși's interest in abstraction and simplicity. Its continuous vertical form represents infinity and the idea of eternal remembrance. The sculpture is part of a larger ensemble that includes the Table of Silence and the Gate of the Kiss, all commemorating the same theme of sacrifice and memory.
