Teseida
The "Teseida" is an epic poem written by the Italian poet Boccaccio in the 14th century. It is based on the myth of Theseus and tells the story of his adventures, particularly focusing on his journey to Thebes to rescue Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons. The poem is notable for its blend of classical themes and medieval storytelling.
The work is divided into twelve books and is considered one of the earliest examples of Italian narrative poetry. It influenced later writers, including Chaucer, who adapted parts of it in his own works. The "Teseida" showcases Boccaccio's skill in weaving together romance, adventure, and moral lessons.
