Terra Nova Expedition
The Terra Nova Expedition was a British venture to Antarctica that took place from 1910 to 1913. Led by Robert Falcon Scott, the primary goal was to reach the South Pole and conduct scientific research. The expedition set sail on the ship Terra Nova and included a team of 65 men who faced extreme weather conditions and challenging terrain.
Despite their efforts, Scott and his team reached the South Pole on January 17, 1912, only to find that Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, had arrived first. Tragically, Scott and his companions perished on the return journey, highlighting the dangers of polar exploration.
