Tenzing-Hillary Airport
Tenzing-Hillary Airport, also known as Lukla Airport, is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It serves as the main gateway for trekkers heading to the Everest Base Camp and other popular trekking routes in the Himalayas. The airport is situated at an elevation of 2,845 meters (9,335 feet) and features a short, sloped runway, making it one of the most challenging airports in the world.
Named after the famous climbers Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary, the airport plays a crucial role in connecting remote mountain communities with the rest of Nepal. It operates flights primarily from Kathmandu, and its unique location offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest.
