Tension Leg Platform
A Tension Leg Platform (TLP) is a type of floating offshore structure used for oil and gas exploration and production. It is anchored to the seabed by vertical tendons, which are kept under tension. This design allows the platform to remain stable in rough sea conditions while minimizing the movement caused by waves and wind.
TLPs are typically deployed in deep water, where traditional fixed platforms are not feasible. They can support drilling rigs and production facilities, making them an efficient solution for extracting resources from challenging environments like the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea.
