Semi-Submersible Platform
A semi-submersible platform is a type of offshore structure used primarily for drilling and production of oil and gas. It floats on the water's surface and is anchored to the seabed, allowing it to remain stable in rough sea conditions. The design typically features large buoyant columns that keep the platform elevated above the waves.
These platforms are advantageous because they can operate in deep water and are less affected by wind and waves compared to traditional fixed platforms. Semi-submersible platforms are often used in conjunction with floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units to efficiently manage resources extracted from the ocean.
