Tenjin
Tenjin is a deity in Japanese Shinto religion, revered as the god of scholarship and learning. Originally based on the historical figure Sugawara no Michizane, who was a scholar and politician in the Heian period, Tenjin is often worshipped by students seeking success in their studies.
Temples dedicated to Tenjin, known as Tenmangu, can be found throughout Japan. These shrines often feature offerings of plum blossoms, which are associated with the deity. Festivals celebrating Tenjin, such as the Tenjin Matsuri, highlight his importance in Japanese culture and education.
