Tendon Disorders
Tendon disorders refer to conditions that affect the tendons, which are the fibrous tissues connecting muscles to bones. Common types include tendinitis, characterized by inflammation, and tendinosis, which involves degeneration of the tendon. These disorders often result from overuse, injury, or age-related changes, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
Treatment for tendon disorders typically includes rest, ice, and physical therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscles. In some cases, medications like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be prescribed to alleviate pain and inflammation. Severe cases might require surgical intervention to repair the damaged tendon.
