Temporary Restraining Order
A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) is a legal order issued by a court to protect an individual from harassment, threats, or harm. It is typically requested in urgent situations where immediate protection is necessary. The order restricts the behavior of the person it is issued against, often prohibiting them from contacting or approaching the protected individual.
TROs are usually temporary, lasting until a court hearing can be held to determine whether a longer-term solution, such as a permanent restraining order, is needed. During this hearing, both parties can present their cases, and the court will decide on the appropriate course of action.
