Temiar People
The Temiar people are an indigenous group primarily found in the central region of Peninsular Malaysia. They are part of the larger Orang Asli community, which consists of various ethnic groups. The Temiar traditionally live in forested areas and rely on hunting, gathering, and small-scale agriculture for their livelihood. Their culture is rich in oral traditions, music, and dance.
The Temiar language belongs to the Austroasiatic language family, and many Temiar people also speak Malay. They have a deep connection to their natural environment, which plays a significant role in their spiritual beliefs and practices. Efforts are ongoing to preserve their culture and address challenges posed by modernization and land development.
