Tavurvur Volcano
Tavurvur Volcano is an active stratovolcano located on New Britain, an island in Papua New Guinea. It is part of the Rabaul Caldera and is known for its frequent eruptions, with significant activity recorded in 1994 that led to the destruction of the nearby town of Rabaul.
The volcano rises about 600 meters above sea level and is characterized by its steep slopes and a prominent crater. Its eruptions are primarily explosive, producing ash clouds that can affect air travel and local communities. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, making it an important ecological zone.
