Tataviam People
The Tataviam People are a Native American group originally inhabiting the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas in Southern California. They are part of the larger Tongva cultural group and are known for their rich traditions, language, and connection to the land. The Tataviam lived in small villages and relied on local resources for food, shelter, and tools.
Historically, the Tataviam faced significant challenges due to European colonization and the establishment of missions, which disrupted their way of life. Today, efforts are being made to preserve their cultural heritage and language, as well as to recognize their historical significance in California's history.
