Tassilo III
Tassilo III was a Duke of Bavaria who ruled during the late 8th century, specifically from around 748 to 788 AD. He belonged to the Agilolfing dynasty and was known for his efforts to maintain the independence of Bavaria during a time of increasing influence from the Frankish Empire, led by Charlemagne.
His reign was marked by a complex relationship with the Franks, as he initially sought to preserve Bavarian autonomy. However, in 788, he was ultimately deposed by Charlemagne, who sought to consolidate his power over the region, leading to the integration of Bavaria into the Frankish Empire.
