Tasmanian devils
The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, an island state of Australia. It is known for its stocky build, black fur, and distinctive loud screeches. Tasmanian devils are primarily nocturnal and are scavengers, often feeding on carrion. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to clean up dead animals.
These animals are currently classified as endangered due to a contagious cancer known as devil facial tumor disease (DFTD), which has significantly reduced their population. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the species and its habitat, ensuring its survival for future generations.
