Tasmanian devil
The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, an island state of Australia. It is known for its stocky build, black fur, and distinctive loud screeches. The species primarily feeds on small animals, carrion, and has a strong bite, allowing it to consume bones.
Once widespread across mainland Australia, the Tasmanian devil is now mostly found in the wild in Tasmania due to habitat loss and disease. The devil facial tumor disease (DFTD) has significantly impacted its population, leading to conservation efforts aimed at protecting this unique species from extinction.
