Tasmanian Legislative Council
The Tasmanian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Tasmania, Australia. It consists of 15 members who are elected for six-year terms. Each member represents one of the 15 electoral divisions in Tasmania, and elections are held every three years for half of the seats.
The Council plays a crucial role in reviewing and amending legislation proposed by the lower house, known as the House of Assembly. It also has the power to initiate legislation and is responsible for representing the interests of Tasmanians in the legislative process.
