Tang Xianzu
Tang Xianzu was a renowned Chinese playwright and poet from the Ming Dynasty, born in 1550. He is best known for his masterpiece, the play Peony Pavilion, which is celebrated for its rich language and exploration of love and dreams. Tang's works often reflect the cultural and social issues of his time, showcasing his deep understanding of human emotions.
In addition to Peony Pavilion, Tang Xianzu wrote several other plays, including The Dream of the Red Chamber and The Purple Hairpin. His contributions to Chinese literature have earned him the title of "Shakespeare of the East," highlighting his significant influence on drama and storytelling in China.
