Tanabata Festival
The Tanabata Festival, also known as the Star Festival, is a traditional Japanese celebration held on July 7th. It commemorates the meeting of two celestial lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way and allowed to reunite only once a year. During this festival, people write their wishes on colorful strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches.
The festival is celebrated with various events, including parades, fireworks, and decorations. Many towns and cities host their own Tanabata celebrations, featuring vibrant displays and community activities. The festival symbolizes hope and the importance of dreams, making it a cherished occasion in Japanese culture.
