Paro Taktsang
Paro Taktsang, also known as the Tiger's Nest Monastery, is a prominent Buddhist monastery located in the Paro Valley of Bhutan. Perched on a cliff at an elevation of about 3,120 meters (10,240 feet), it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The monastery was built in the 17th century and is a significant pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
The name "Tiger's Nest" comes from the legend that Guru Padmasambhava, a key figure in Tibetan Buddhism, meditated in a cave at this site. The monastery consists of four temples and several other rooms, all connected by a series of staircases and walkways, making it a remarkable architectural achievement.
