T-Cell Activation
T-Cell Activation is a crucial process in the immune system where T-cells, a type of white blood cell, become ready to fight infections. This activation occurs when antigen-presenting cells (APCs) display foreign substances, called antigens, on their surface. The T-cell recognizes these antigens through its unique receptors, leading to its activation.
Once activated, T-cells undergo rapid division and differentiation into various subtypes, such as helper T-cells and cytotoxic T-cells. Helper T-cells assist other immune cells, while cytotoxic T-cells directly attack infected or cancerous cells. This coordinated response is essential for effectively combating pathogens and maintaining overall health.
