Syriza
Syriza, short for the Coalition of the Radical Left, is a political party in Greece founded in 2004. It emerged from a coalition of leftist groups and gained prominence during the Greek debt crisis, advocating for anti-austerity measures and social justice. The party's platform focuses on progressive policies, including labor rights, environmental protection, and public services.
In January 2015, Syriza won the general elections, making Alexis Tsipras the Prime Minister. The party aimed to renegotiate Greece's bailout terms with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. However, it faced challenges in balancing its promises with the realities of economic reform and international pressure.
