Symplegades
The Symplegades, also known as the Clashing Rocks, are two mythical rocks from ancient Greek mythology. They were said to be located at the entrance of the Bosporus Strait and would crash together, crushing anything that attempted to pass between them. The rocks were a significant obstacle for sailors and adventurers in various myths.
In the story of Jason and the Argonauts, the hero Jason successfully navigated the Symplegades by sending a dove through the gap first. When the rocks clashed, they crushed the dove but opened just enough for Jason's ship, the Argo, to pass through safely. This event symbolized overcoming great challenges.
