Sword Beach
Sword Beach is one of the five landing areas of the D-Day invasion during World War II. Located in Normandy, France, it was the site where British forces landed on June 6, 1944, aiming to secure a foothold in Europe. The beach stretches approximately 8 kilometers and was heavily defended by German troops.
The operation at Sword Beach involved around 29,000 British troops, supported by naval and air forces. Despite facing strong resistance, they successfully captured the beach and advanced towards the city of Caen. Sword Beach played a crucial role in the overall success of the Allied invasion of Normandy.
