D-Day Landings
The D-Day Landings, also known as the Normandy Invasion, took place on June 6, 1944, during World War II. This operation marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi occupation. Allied forces, including troops from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, launched a massive amphibious assault on five beachheads along the Normandy coast in France.
The operation involved meticulous planning and coordination, with over 156,000 soldiers landing on the beaches. Despite facing strong German defenses, the Allies successfully established a foothold, which ultimately led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. The D-Day Landings are considered a pivotal moment in the war.
