Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is a Belarusian politician and opposition leader who gained international attention during the 2020 presidential election in Belarus. She ran against the long-time president, Alexander Lukashenko, after her husband, a prominent opposition figure, was imprisoned. Tsikhanouskaya's candidacy represented a significant challenge to the existing regime, as she rallied support for democratic reforms.
After the election, which was widely criticized for being fraudulent, Tsikhanouskaya fled to Lithuania for her safety. From there, she has continued to advocate for democracy and human rights in Belarus, gaining recognition and support from various international organizations and governments.
