Sunwolves
The Sunwolves were a professional rugby union team based in Japan, established in 2016. They competed in the Super Rugby tournament, which features teams from multiple countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The team aimed to promote rugby in Japan and provide a platform for local players to compete at a high level.
The Sunwolves played their home games at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground in Tokyo. Despite facing challenges in terms of performance and financial sustainability, the team contributed to the growth of rugby in Japan, especially leading up to the 2019 Rugby World Cup, which was hosted in Japan.
