Sunscreen Agents
Sunscreen agents are ingredients used in products to protect the skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. They work by either absorbing, reflecting, or scattering UV rays, helping to prevent sunburn and long-term skin damage. Common types of sunscreen agents include chemical filters like avobenzone and octisalate, and physical filters like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
These agents are often found in various forms, such as lotions, sprays, and gels. The effectiveness of sunscreen is measured by its Sun Protection Factor (SPF), which indicates the level of protection against UVB rays. Regular application is essential for optimal protection during sun exposure.
