Sundaland Plate
The Sundaland Plate is a tectonic microplate located in Southeast Asia, primarily covering the region of the Malay Peninsula, the islands of Borneo, Sumatra, and Java, as well as parts of the South China Sea. It is part of the larger Indo-Australian Plate and is significant for its geological activity, including earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
This plate is named after Sundaland, a biogeographical region that includes the islands and landmasses of the Sunda Shelf. The interactions between the Sundaland Plate and neighboring plates, such as the Eurasian Plate and the Australian Plate, contribute to the complex geological features and biodiversity of the area.
