Sultan of Selangor
The Sultan of Selangor is the monarch of the Malaysian state of Selangor. This position is hereditary, and the Sultan serves as the head of state, overseeing various ceremonial duties and representing the state in official matters. The Sultan also plays a significant role in the Islamic community, being the head of Islam in Selangor.
The current Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, ascended to the throne in 2001. The Sultanate has a rich history, with its origins dating back to the 18th century. The Sultan's palace, Istana Alam Shah, is located in Klang and serves as the official residence.
