Substantial Form
Substantial Form is a philosophical concept primarily associated with the works of Aristotle. It refers to the essence or nature of a thing that defines what it is. In this view, every object has both matter (the physical substance) and form (the arrangement or organization of that matter). The form gives an object its identity and characteristics.
In the context of metaphysics, Substantial Form helps explain how different entities exist and interact in the world. For example, a tree is not just a collection of wood and leaves; its substantial form is what makes it a tree, distinguishing it from other objects like a rock or a car.
