Stroop test
The Stroop test is a psychological assessment that measures cognitive flexibility and processing speed. In this test, participants are shown words that name colors, but the text is printed in a different color. For example, the word "red" might be printed in blue ink. The challenge is to name the color of the ink rather than the word itself, which can lead to interference and slower response times.
This test highlights the difficulty of managing conflicting information and is often used in research to study attention, inhibition, and cognitive control. It can also help identify conditions like ADHD or dementia, where cognitive processing may be impaired.
