Still's Disease
Still's Disease, also known as Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA), is a rare type of inflammatory arthritis that primarily affects children. It is characterized by persistent fever, rash, and joint pain. The exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to involve an autoimmune response, where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues.
Diagnosis typically involves a combination of clinical evaluation and laboratory tests to rule out other conditions. Treatment often includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, and biologic medications to manage symptoms and reduce inflammation. Early intervention is crucial to prevent long-term joint damage.
