Steer Roping
Steer roping is a rodeo event where a cowboy, known as a roper, attempts to catch a running steer using a lasso. The roper rides a horse and throws the lasso around the steer’s horns or neck as it runs away. The goal is to catch the steer quickly and efficiently.
Once the steer is caught, the roper dismounts and ties three of the steer’s legs together with a rope. The time it takes to complete this process is recorded, and the fastest time wins the event. Steer roping showcases the skills of both the horse and the roper in a competitive setting.
