Steam locomotives
Steam locomotives are powerful trains that use steam engines to move. They burn fuel, usually coal or wood, to heat water in a boiler, creating steam. This steam then pushes pistons that turn the wheels, allowing the train to travel along tracks. Steam locomotives were widely used from the early 19th century until the mid-20th century.
These locomotives played a crucial role in the development of rail transport, connecting cities and facilitating trade. Famous examples include the Locomotion No. 1, the first steam locomotive to carry passengers on a public railway, and the Flying Scotsman, known for its speed and elegance.
