States General of the Netherlands
The States General of the Netherlands is the bicameral legislature of the country, consisting of two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate. It is responsible for making laws, approving budgets, and overseeing the government. Members of the House of Representatives are elected directly by the public, while the Senate is composed of members appointed by the provincial legislatures.
The States General has a long history, dating back to the late Middle Ages when it served as an assembly of representatives from various regions. Today, it plays a crucial role in the Dutch political system, ensuring that the government remains accountable to the people.
