Staroobryadtsy
Staroobryadtsy, or Old Believers, are a group of Russian Orthodox Christians who separated from the main church in the 17th century. This schism occurred due to disagreements over religious reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon, which they believed altered traditional practices. The Old Believers strive to preserve the original rituals and texts of the Orthodox faith.
Today, Staroobryadtsy maintain distinct cultural and religious practices, often living in isolated communities. They are known for their traditional clothing, unique liturgical practices, and a strong emphasis on family and community life. Their beliefs and customs continue to be an important part of Russian cultural heritage.
