Star Festival
The Star Festival, known as Tanabata in Japan, is celebrated on July 7th. It commemorates the meeting of two stars, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way and allowed to meet only once a year. People celebrate by writing their wishes on colorful strips of paper called tanzaku and hanging them on bamboo branches.
During the festival, many towns and cities hold vibrant decorations and events. Traditional activities include parades, fireworks, and various performances. The festival emphasizes themes of love, hope, and the beauty of the night sky, making it a cherished occasion for many.
