Standard Malay
Standard Malay is a standardized form of the Malay language, primarily used in Malaysia and Brunei. It serves as the official language in these countries and is based on the Johor-Riau dialect. Standard Malay is used in government, education, and media, promoting effective communication among speakers.
In addition to its official status, Standard Malay is also recognized in Indonesia as Bahasa Indonesia, which is a variant of the same language. While there are differences in vocabulary and pronunciation, both forms share a common linguistic heritage, facilitating mutual understanding among speakers across the region.
