St. Maria Goretti
St. Maria Goretti was an Italian girl born on October 16, 1890, in Corinaldo, Italy. She is known for her strong faith and commitment to her beliefs, even at a young age. Maria worked on her family's farm and was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, often praying and attending Mass.
At the age of 11, Maria was tragically attacked by a neighbor, Alessandro Serenelli, who attempted to assault her. She resisted and, in the process, was fatally injured. Maria forgave her attacker before dying on July 6, 1902. She was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XII in 1950, symbolizing purity and forgiveness.
