St. John of Nepomuk
St. John of Nepomuk was a 14th-century Czech priest and martyr, known for his strong commitment to the confidentiality of the confessional. He served as a chaplain to Queen Sophia of Bavaria and was later executed by King Wenceslaus IV for refusing to disclose the queen's confessions. His steadfastness in protecting the sanctity of confession made him a symbol of priestly integrity.
He is venerated as the patron saint of Czech Republic and bridges, often depicted with a halo of five stars, representing the five virtues he embodied. His feast day is celebrated on May 16, and he is recognized in various Christian traditions.
