St. Hugh of Avalon
St. Hugh of Avalon was a Benedictine monk and later became the Bishop of Lincoln in England during the 12th century. He is known for his dedication to reforming the church and promoting monastic life. Hugh was also a close friend of King Henry II and played a significant role in the political and religious landscape of his time.
Hugh was born in Avalon, France, around 1135 and joined the Carthusian Order before moving to England. He is remembered for his compassion towards the poor and his efforts to improve the lives of his parishioners. St. Hugh was canonized in 1220, and his feast day is celebrated on November 17.
