St. Elizabeth of Portugal
St. Elizabeth of Portugal was a queen born in 1271, known for her deep faith and commitment to helping the poor. She was the daughter of Peter III of Aragon and married King Denis of Portugal at a young age. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly for peace and charity, often mediating conflicts and providing for the needy.
After her husband's death in 1325, Elizabeth devoted herself to religious life and continued her charitable works. She was canonized by Pope Urban VIII in 1625, and her feast day is celebrated on November 4. She is recognized as the patron saint of Portugal and Bakers.
