St. Elizabeth of Hungary
St. Elizabeth of Hungary was a princess born in 1207 in Hungary. She is known for her deep commitment to helping the poor and sick. After marrying Ludwig IV of Thuringia, she dedicated her life to charitable works, building hospitals and caring for those in need.
After her husband's death, Elizabeth faced hardship but continued her mission of service. She became a Franciscan tertiary and lived a life of humility and devotion. She passed away in 1231 and was canonized by Pope Gregory IX in 1235, recognized as a symbol of compassion and charity in the Christian faith.
