St. Clare
St. Clare of Assisi was an Italian saint born in 1194. She is best known for founding the Order of Poor Ladies, later known as the Poor Clares, which emphasized a life of poverty and devotion to God. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, she dedicated her life to serving the poor and living in simplicity.
Clare's commitment to her faith led her to live in a convent, where she and her followers practiced a strict lifestyle of prayer and community. She was canonized as a saint by Pope Alexander IV in 1255, and her feast day is celebrated on August 11.
